This
is a true life story; as a matter of fact it’s about 2 days old as at the time
of writing.
At about 1.30 a.m on Saturday,
November 23rd, 2013 I received a call from my dad –
instinctively I knew it was related to my mum’s health.
And so I picked up the phone…. My dad yell’s at the other end of the phone…. Meet us at Molly Hospital your mum has been rejected at the Accident & Emergency unit in UCH, Ibadan, Oyo State.

I
got up quickly and hopped into the car – driving as fast I could.
Just about 3 mins later my phone rings again… ‘There’s no space in Molly Hospital meet us at Yemetu area’..... So, I make a U – turn and drive straight towards Yemetu. When we got to another hospital at Yemetu… it was locked without any sign of activity. We drove off towards another hospital in Akobo… At first there was a glimmer of hope… security lights were on….

So
we got down and knocked the gate for several minutes before the sleepy gateman
shouted asking for whom it was… he opens the gate and two sleepy nurses, a
cleaner and a doctor came to meet us… once we explain the situation to them…
The doctor says we have to pay N100, 000…. I asked him for what? In the midst
of the ensuing drama I angrily told my dad to get into the car so we can go
back to UCH.
After
a lot of back and forth my mum was
eventually admitted at the Emergency Unit in UCH, Ibadan at about 5.30am.
Please
take note!!!!!! (1.30am – 5.30am)
If
not for God’s grace my mum could have died.
I
thank the Dr(s) for their kindness as they instructed the nurses to admit my
mum; I also thank all the nurses and everyone that helped. God bless you all.
Whilst
in the hospital I saw several patients with critical conditions being rejected
because of the ongoing Doctor’s strike – The result of a systematic failure of
the government to pay salaries of Doctors accrued for about 4 months.
The
several cases I witnessed were horrifying and unbelievable.
I live in a country with
a heartless President; a President who cares less about the welfare of his
citizens both young and old.
How is it difficult to
make things work in a country with envious natural resources?
It is unquestionable
that this government has failed and there’s absolutely no hope of a positive
turnaround.
We all have a simple
solution come 2015 before we all die from the porous policies of a failed
administration.
Rather than waste our
energy protesting – let us positively direct it to secure our future by;
- Educating Voters
- Voting credible and trusted leaders with achievable
policies.
- Protecting our vote
This is the ONLY
solution.
I’ve never voted in this
country…. but I will vote in 2015!!!!
What about you?
I leave you with several
pictures I took while in the hospital.
Yours in the healing of a hurting nation.
